Tessa Thompson is perhaps best known for her role as Jackie Cook on the UPN/CW neo noir drama series, Veronica Mars, starring as a the fiery nemesis to Kristen Bell. She later starred in the CW drama Hidden Palms. Thompson has been working a short three years in front of the camera but began acting as a child in the theatre. At eighteen she earned an NAACP Image award nomination for her Juliet in Romeo and Juliet: Antebellum New Orleans 1836 with The Theatre at Boston Court. She returned to the stage in the American premiere of David Grieg’s Pyrenees, opposite Frances Conroy and Tom Irwin, for Center Theatre Group at the Kirk Douglas Theater. Other television credits include a starring role in an award-winning episode of Cold Case with Piper Laurie, and a recurring role on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, playing Loretta Devine’s niece. She starred in the Screen Gems horror remake When a Stranger Calls, and in the Weinstein company dance drama Make it Happen. She has starred in several independent films working with many promising first time directors including Jada Pinkett Smith in The Human Contract, as well as starring roles in Shaun Lapacek’s post-apocalyptic drama Red and Blue Marbles with Ruby Dee; Carmen Madden’s neighborhood drama Everyday Black Man; and Duane Humeyestewa’s coming of age story Periphery. For her riveting performance in For Colored Girls, Tessa won the Outstanding Breakthrough Performance at the Black Reel Awards. Tessa was born and raised in Hollywood, California.
